Have you seen our new Youtube series, Design on Time?
We have a lot of fun and look forward to sharing more with you!
It's almost reveal day at Studio Calico! Thought I'd share my sneaks here! Excited to have the Australia stamp to use!
See you at the Reveal on the 27th! :)
I used to share so much on this blog, from the time we found out we were pregnant with Els, til when she was born and then I tapered off a bit as she got older, around 4. This month, she turned 9. I cannot believe how much time has passed so quickly! and now: She is interested in so many things, all at once. She's a bundle of energy and ideas and questions. It's hard to keep up. Right now she's into becoming an actress, dancing, basketball, her friends and cooking. She's a little ray of sunshine. We are savoring this last year before she hits the double digits!
My 9 year old daughter Elsie is always up for a creative challenge. She is a maker and doer at heart! When I enrolled for the Color Theory class, I had no idea I would invite Elsie to join me in the lessons. Well, last night was our first class and we had such a good time creating together. PS- They've extended enrollment! Sign up by March 13th at 11:59pm EST. We learned about the Impasto Paint Technique, here's our results. Elsie's negative and positives of the painting. The class calls for a Silhouette machine and since I don't have one, I used some of my old KI Memories Lace paper. I did borrow one from Amy though, so I am excited to get practicing in the next few weeks! Close up of Elsie's negative. SO PRETTY and gunky and all that texture! We definitely loved all the smearing without worrying process :) The lifting up and revealing is also pretty cool. Mine. We used some old shipping chipboard as our backdrop which was perfect as it's super sturdy for our goopy paint! I was so excited when I woke up this morning to them all dry. It just feels good to feel like you are a real painter :)
My finished layout. I don't know what Elsie will do with her pieces, I'll post whenever she gets them done. I ended up using the negative piece for my layout, the whole entire chipboard and all! I will try and add the positive image on another project. I may have missed the whole point of that lesson as most people used the positive impasto technique part but I went this way. And that's okay. :) :) :)
I loved that I could get messy with this layout and not worry about smudges and mistakes. That swish of paint under SWING title was not on purpose! :) Looking forward to more lessons with Wilna and more happy mistakes!
Sigh. TINA'S MINIBOOK WORKSHOP! I'm trying to limit myself on how many classes I take so that I can actually keep up. This is one I will not miss or get behind on! I mean, look at all this goodness!
I've been a fan of Tina forever, I'm excited to learn from her and participate in this little journey! Her work is all around amazing. From her documenting on paper to photography- I just want to capture the peacefulness that emanates from her!
Early bird offer expires 3/31/2015 at 11:59pm EST. Tina's workshop is enrolling through 3/31/2015 at 11:59pm EST and class content will be available on 3/10/2015. Hope you join us! Click here for more info. It'll be lots of fun!
Here's some of my other sneaks! That patterned paper! I want it in a blanket, a top, a cardigan, everything! :)
These are all a mix of the addons, the scrapbook kit and some digital embellishments. My faves! I've been having fun with those and will be posting a separate post for some of the things I've been making!
Presale is a subscriber-only event that starts at noon EST on the 27th. This is when subscribers have a chance to purchase the next month’s kits and add-ons before they become available to the general public. The full Reveal starts at midnight EST on the 27th (technically 12:00 am EST on the 28th), and this is when the kits and add-ons become available to everyone. Hope you can join us!
I am so excited to take this class at Studio Calico! Do you look at paint and art pieces and wish you could make those things? I DO!! I have admired Wilna's crafting skills for awhile now, this is going to be a ton of fun for me to get out of my box and get a little messy! We'll be learning paint techniques and how she gets her amazing color combos to work!
Click here to sign up! There will be a message board, gallery and lots of info and inspiration, let's do it together! The lessons alone and the amazing contribution list is reason enough for me to want to play along! There's also some goodies if you sign up quick!
While supplies last, Color Theory students will receive a set of 4 (4x3in) silkscreens and one Color Theory Deja Blue Acrylic Paint. This bonus class kit will ship to you for free, no matter where you are. In addition, ONE lucky Color Theory student will receive all 12 Color Theory Paints. I recently just dived into the world of silkscreens and think it's going to be really fun while learning from the best!
Enrollment for Color Theory will close on February 28th at 11:59pm EST I hope you join us! Let's learn together! :)
I loved this kit so much! There were so many pieces that just screamed happy to me! I love the pop of yellow that made it into the kit too.
So many cute patterned papers, I may have gotten carried away with the mixing on a few of them. :) I'm just happy I have a layout with my whole family represented!

A few of the things that caught my eye at CHA! And a little video Amy and I put together at the end of this post! :)
Loved the string art at Amy's booth. I made Kira a little one for Christmas so I know what a lot of work that takes! Also felt like a bit of a rebel with my temporary tattoo from Amy's booth!
As I say in the video, the My Mind's Eye booth was one of my favorites! All the details are way too cute. They're so clever! I have serious pillow envy.
That globe! They're cool without paint but with paint, so lovely! Adding this on my list of projects I want to do in 2015!
I've been a fan of gallery walls forever. Me and My Big Idea had a very impressive one!
I thought I got a photo of the new albums by Seven Paper, I couldn't find it. But these stickers! So Kate Spade, pretty and classy!
Lastly, this line from Simple Stories really spoke to me, as a mother with 2 daughters, I could wrote a whole other post on this alone! I can't wait to get this stuff and dive in and possibly make a very meaningful book for my girls and possibly one for myself even. Lots of powerful messages that take this craft to a whole other meaning!
The finds posted here (besides the My Mind's Eye booth that I oodled at) are different than on the video below!) And Amy has her 5 as well!
Thanks for not laughing too much at us :)
